Whilst the basic technicalities of driving a vehicle remain the same, driving a heavy vehicle such as trucks, tractors or trailers requires more efficiency and skill set especially for maneuvering and controlling the vehicle.

With this course, you will learn various aspects of heavy truck driving such as the starting, balancing and positioning of the heavy vehicle, learn the gear functions and its purpose, understand the use of the clutch, brake, accelerator and dashboard, road markings and signals, changing lanes, vehicle control, anticipation and reaction, courtesy to other road users and the legal restrictions and obligations.

How Many Tests Are There Before You Get A Heavy Truck Driving License?

You need to pass five tests in total along the way to acquiring your truck driving license in Dubai. Our experienced instructors will prepare you for each of these tests during your driving lessons. Please ensure to carry your Emirates ID and RTA learning permit at all times.

What Is Category 4 License in UAE?

A Category 4 license in the UAE is issued for the category of heavy vehicles (over 2.5 tons). Mostly these vehicles are used by people working in the logistics, transport and construction industry, etc.


 

How to get a heavy vehicle license In the UAE?

In the UAE, you have to be at least 20 years old to get a heavy vehicle license and provide original proof of identification, like your Emirates ID and/or residency visa (for expats). You must complete training at a driving school approved by the UAE’s Road Transport Authority (RTA), such as Excellence Driving. The training includes vision tests, attending theory lessons, driving training, and passing both the theory and practical road tests.


 

What Is The Age Limit For Heavy Truck Drivers In The UAE?

The minimum age to apply for a heavy truck license (Category 4) is 20 years old. There is no maximum age. However, the driver must pass a medical fitness certificate to prove his physical ability to drive heavy vehicles, especially when age comes into play.
